In mid-January 2023, the [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct/Revised enforcement guidelines|Enforcement Guidelines]] for the [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct|Universal Code of Conduct]] will undergo a second community-wide ratification vote. This follows [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct/Enforcement guidelines/Voting/Results|the March 2022 vote]], which resulted in a majority of voters supporting the Enforcement Guidelines. During the vote, participants helped highlight important community concerns. The Board’s [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia Foundation Community Affairs Committee|Community Affairs Committee]] requested that these areas of concern be reviewed.

The volunteer-led [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Drafting_committee#Revisions_Committee_members|Revisions Committee]] worked hard reviewing community input and making changes. They updated areas of concern, such as training and affirmation requirements, privacy and transparency in the process, and readability and translatability of the document itself.

[[metawiki:Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_Foundation_Legal_department|Wikimedia Foundation Legal Department]] is organizing a feedback-cycle with community members to discuss updating the Wikimedia Terms of Use.

[[foundation:Special:MyLanguage/Terms of Use|The Terms of Use (ToU)]] are the legal terms that govern the use of websites hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. We will be gathering your feedback on a draft proposal from February through April. The draft will be translated into several languages, with written feedback accepted in any language.

This update comes in response to several things:

* Implementing the Universal Code of Conduct.
* Updating project text to the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 license.
* Proposal for better addressing undisclosed paid editing.
* Bringing the Terms of Use in line with current and recently passed laws affecting the Wikimedia Foundation, including the European Digital Services Act

As part of the feedback cycle two office hours will be held: the first on 2 March and the second on 4 April.

The event will take place in Bhubaneswar during 20-22 December 2024.

The new team includes most members from the former A2K team, along with colleagues from IIIT-H already involved in Wikimedia and Open Knowledge work. {{gap}}ચિન્નાસા’મીની આ વાત ત્રણ દિવસ સુધી ચાલી. મને પણ લાગ્યું કે કહો ન કહો,આ અણઘડ માણસ પાસે કાંઈક વસ્તુ છે. શરીરે ઘણું ઠીક જણાતું હતું. પ્રયોગ ચાલુ રાખ્યો.

{{gap}}આઠમે દિવસે આઠ આના ફેર હતો. એક મહિનામાં હું હાલતો ચાલતો થઈ ગયો.

{{gap}}મને હવે ચિન્નાસા’મીની ઝુંપડીએ જવાનું મન થઈ આવ્યું, એક દિવસ રજા હતી ત્યારે ગયો પણ ખરો.

{{gap}}ચિન્નાસા’મી પાસેની આ વસ્તુ અદ્‌ભુત હોય તો એક પંથ ને દો કાજ, એવી વાત બને તેમ હતું. મારા મનમાં એ વિચાર ઘોળાતો હતો. અનેકોને આ વસ્તુ આશીર્વાદ રૂપ થાય, એની શોધખોળ ચિન્નાસા’મી જ કરે, એકાદ નાનકડી દુકાન આની માંડી હોય, તો પૈસાના પણ ઢગલા થાય. હું ચિન્નાસામીની ઝુંપડીએ પહોંચ્યો ત્યારે એ ભાત રસમ્‌ લઇ રહ્યો હતો. થોડી વાર હું બહાર બેઠો. એ બહાર આવ્યો ત્યારે મને ત્યાં બેઠેલ જોઈ ને નવાઈ પામ્યો. એ એકદમ પાછો ઝુંપડીમાં ગયો. હું સમજી ગયો. ‘સા’મી ! કૉફી નથી પીવી હો’ એણે ઢાળેલા ખાટલા ઉપર બેસતાં મેં કહ્યું.

{{gap}}પણ પાંચ મિનિટમાં તો એ તાજા બુંદમાંથી બનાવેલી કૉફીનું પ્યાલું લઈને હાજર થઈ ગયો. એક પિત્તળ પવાલામાંથી, બીજા પવાલામાં ઝડપથી લાંબી ધારે રેડાતી એ કૉફીની ખુશ્બો કાંઈ અજબ હતી. મને થયું કે ચિન્નાસા’મીના પ્રેમાળ હૈયામાં હું આંહી આવ્યો એનો આનંદ બેઠો છે!

{{gap}}મેં વિચાર્યું, ડૉક્ટરોમાં નહિ નહિં તો સાતસો આઠસો બગાડ્યા હશે, ત્યારે આ બિચારો તો માગતો પણ નથી. સોને બદલે નોટો દોઢસોનો–ને પછી બસોની કરી નાખી !

{{gap}}‘ચિન્નાસા’મી ! આ લ્યો, આ કાંઈ નથી, તમે આ મૂળિયાં શોધવાનું કામ કરો, ને આપણે તમારે માટે પાકું મકાન બંધાવી દેવાનું ! આને શું કહે છે ચિન્નાસા’મી! આ મૂળિયાં ને?’

{{gap}}ચિન્નાસામી બે હાથ જોડીને માથું નમાવીને જમીન તરફ જ નજર રાખીને બોલ્યો : ‘સેઠજી! એ વાત હવે જવા દો!’

{{gap}}મેં જાણ્યું કે નામ તો ધીમે ધીમે કઢાવાશે: ‘સારું, પણ આ તો લ્યો ! લ્યો, આ-બસો ને પેલા પચાસ તમે લીધા છે તે પાછા નથી લેવાના હો !’

{{gap}}ચિન્નાસામીએ માથું ધૂણુાવ્યું, ‘સેઠજી ! તમારે આપવું જ હોય તો ત્રણ આના ભાતના ને બે મરચાં એટલું જ આપવાનું છે. ને મારે લેવાનું છે. આ ચીજ તો અમારે ત્યાં દોઢસો વર્ષથી છે!’

{{gap}}‘અરે પણ ચિન્નાસા’મી.....’ ચિન્નાસા’મી બે હાથ જોડીને માત્ર બોલ્યા વિના નમી જ રહ્યો; તે ધીમેથી બોલ્યો: ‘સેઠજી ! હવે બોલતા નહિ. આ કોઈ વસ્તુ નથી. આ તો બાપ દીકરાની પરંપરામાં ચાલી આવતી હાથ સોંપણી છે! એનું કાંઇ નામ નથી. ત્રણ આનાના ભાત ને બે મરચાં સેઠજી ! કાલે હું તમારે ત્યાંથી એ માગી લઈશ !’

{{gap}}મેં જોયું તો ત્યાં ચિન્નાસા’મી હતો જ નહિ. એ જંગલમાં અદૃશ્ય થઇ ગયો હતો. મને બહુ જ નવાઈ લાગી ! હું પાછો ફર્યો. પણ મને અનેક વિચાર આવ્યા કરતા હતા. એક પળભર એના જુના વિચારને બાજુએ મૂકીને આનો વેપાર કરે તો લાખો કમાય તેમ છે—ત્યારે કયા બળ ઉપર એ આ લાભ જતો કરતો હતો ? શ્રદ્ધા ઉપર ? અજ્ઞાન ઉપર? વહેમ ઉપર ? ભાવના ઉપર ? કે કેવળ શંકા ઉપર? એમ પ્રકટ થશે તો વસ્તુ કુટુંબમાંથી ચાલી જશે, એવી શંકા ઉપર ? એ ગમે તેમ હોય, પણ છેવટે તો મને એટલું જ લાગ્યું કે આ તે કેવી વિચિત્ર વાત છે !...પણ આમાં ચડે કોણ ? પેલી અનામી જડી બુટ્ટી&lt;noinclude&gt;&lt;/noinclude&gt;</text>

{{gap}}છેવટે મેં નિર્ણય કર્યો કે સૌથી સહીસલામત રેલ્વેના પાટા, એ રસ્તે ચાલ્યા જતાં ક્યાંક તો જઇને ઉભા રહેવાય ! એટલે આડીઅવળી બધી કડી છોડી દઇને હું રેલ્વેને પાટે ચડી ગયો

{{gap}}પણ રેલ્વેના પાટાના રસ્તા કેટલા ભયંકર હોય છે. એ કાંઈ મારું અજાણ્યું ન હતું. આજે જેમ મોડું થઈ ગયું હતું તેમ પરગામ જતાં જ્યારે પણ મોડું થતું ત્યારે હું રેલ્વેના પાટાએ ચડી જતો. પણ ભાગ્યે જ કોઈ એવો પ્રસંગ ગયો હશે કે જ્યારે સર્પનાં દર્શન ન થયાં હોય ! એટલે મનમાં એની મોટામાં મોટી ચિંતા હતી !

{{gap}}અને એમાં આજે પાછી પેલી રાજુડીએ અલકમલકની આડી અવળી અનેક વાતો કરીને મારે માટે હવામાં પણ સેંકડો વાતો ભરી દીધી હતી !

શેરનો ભાર થઈ જાય. ને મારું કામ થઈ જાય !

{{gap}}અને એક વાતની મને ફાવટ પણ આવી ગઇ હતી. કથા વાતો કરવાની. એક ડોશીમા તો, મને બરાબર સાંભરે છે કે, દર રવિવારે, શામળશાની હૂંડી સાંભળવા માટે મારી રાહ જોઈને બેસતાં ! અને હું પણુ 'મારી હૂંડી સીકારો મા'રાજ રે શામળા ગિરધારી !' એમ ઠીક ઠીક રાગે ગાઇને જરાક હલનચલનથી ડોશીમાને રીજવી દેતોતા ! ડોશીમા એક સૂપડાથી ઓછું ક્યારે ય ન આપતા ! એ જમાનાની મીઠાશ કહો તો મીઠાશ ને અજ્ઞાન ગણો રો અજ્ઞાન-ભારે હતાં !
જમાનાની એ વિશિષ્ટતા હતી.

{{gap}}'સારું હતું કે એ વખતે હજી છાપાં પોતાની કટારો ભરતાં શીખ્યાં ન હતાં ને દોઢ ડાહ્યો કોઈ ચર્ચાપત્ર લખતાં શીખ્યો ન હતો. નહિતર મારા જેવા ગામડા ગામની નિશાળનો માસ્તર, આમ ગોરપદું કરે છે, એની જાણ જો સાહેબને થઈ હોત તે મારા બાર જ વાગી જાત ! ને નોંધ ચીઠી, ચપાટી કાગળ પતર, નામાં ઠામાં, કથાવાર્તા, જોશ, વૈદું, મારી આ બધી કરામત અહૂર રહી જાત !

{{gap}}નવરો પડતો ત્યારે આસપાસના ગામડાઓમાં સહેલ સપાટા લગાવી આવતો. એમાં કોઈકનું કાંઈક તો બીજાનું બીજું એમ અરચુરણ પરચુરણ કામ પણ મળી રહેતું. મને ખબર હતી કે ગામડાના લોકને એક પૈસો રોકડો કાઢવો પડે તો આકરો લાગે, પણ તાજી તાજી કાઠીઓ ભરાણી હોય, ત્યારે એ ચાર ખોબા દાણા દેવા અધૂરા ન લાગે ! અને એ ચાર ખોબા દાણા આપે ત્યાં તો ખાસ્સો પાંચ શેરનો ભાર થઈ જાય. ને મારું કામ થઈ જાય !

{{gap}}અને એક વાતની મને ફાવટ પણ આવી ગઇ હતી. કથા વાતો કરવાની. એક ડોશીમા તો, મને બરાબર સાંભરે છે કે, દર રવિવારે, શામળશાની હૂંડી સાંભળવા માટે મારી રાહ જોઈને બેસતાં ! અને હું પણ ‘મારી હૂંડી સીકારો મા’રાજ રે શામળા ગિરધારી !’ એમ ઠીક ઠીક રાગે ગાઇને જરાક હલનચલનથી ડોશીમાને રીજવી દેતો ! ડોશીમા એક સૂપડાથી ઓછું ક્યારેય ન આપતા ! એ જમાનાની મીઠાશ કહો તો મીઠાશ ને અજ્ઞાન ગણો તો અજ્ઞાન–ભારે હતાં ! જમાનાની એ વિશિષ્ટતા હતી.

{{gap}}‘સારું હતું કે એ વખતે હજી છાપાં પોતાની કટારો ભરતાં શીખ્યાં ન હતાં ને દોઢ ડાહ્યો કોઈ ચર્ચાપત્ર લખતાં શીખ્યો ન હતો. નહિતર મારા જેવા ગામડા ગામની નિશાળનો માસ્તર, આમ ગોરપદું કરે છે, એની જાણ જો સાહેબને થઈ હોત તો મારા બાર જ વાગી જાત ! ને નોંધ ચીઠી, ચપાટી કાગળ પતર, નામાં ઠામાં, કથાવાર્તા, જોશ, વૈદું, મારી આ બધી કરામત અદ્ધર રહી જાત !

{{gap}}રાજુડીની એ વાત અત્યારે પણ મારા મગજમાં ઘૂમી રહી હતી. સામાન્ય રીતે હું અંધારું થયા પહેલાં જ પાછો ફરી જતો. પણ આજે એક જૂનો મિત્ર મળી ગયો. તે ફરવા લઇ ગયો. શેરડીના વાડ પાસેથી જતાં ગલકાં દીઠાં એટલે ત્યાં થોડીવાર રોકાઈ ગયા. એમાં મોડું થઇ ગયું. પેલો મિત્ર રસ્તો બરાબર બતાવી ગયો. પણ અંધારામા હવે કેડીનો મેળ મેળવવો જાણે મુશ્કેલ હતો એટલે આ
પાર્ટ જ ચડી જવું સહીસલામત હતું. એ રેલ્વે પાટા બરાબર મારે ગામડે નીકળતા હતા, એ મેળમાં હું ઉતાવળે ચાલી રહ્યો હતો.

ઓરડીની દિશા સાંધી.

{{gap}}અત્યારે તો એમાં આકૃતિ કે રૂપ કાંઈ દેખાતું ન હતું. માત્ર રૂદન-જ આવતું જણાતું હતું. સદ્ભાગ્યે એનું મોં બીજી તરફ હોય તેમ લાગ્યું. હું અવાજ ન થાય તેમ આગળ વધ્યો. આગળ વધીને પૂલ પાસે આવતાં તો બેસી જ ગયો-એક ટશે પેલી આકૃતિ તરફ જોઈ રહ્યો.

{{gap}}હીબકાં ભરી ભરીને, જાણે કે કોઈ રડી રહ્યું હતું. રડી રડીને, પોતાની જાતને આંસુ રૂપે, ધરતી ઉપર વહાવી દેવી હોય એવી ભયંકર નિરાશા ભરેલી કરૂણતાથી ત્યાં બેઠું બેઠું કોઇ રડતું હતું ! અને તે પણ બરાબર પાટા વચ્ચે ! એણે કાળું ઓઢણું ઓઢ્યું હોય તેમ લાગ્યું. અત્યારે તેા એ માથા ઉપરથી સરી ગયું હોય ને વીખરાયેલા વાળ ખભા ઉપરથી વાંસે લટકતા હોય તેમ જણાતુ હતું.
મેં ગોઠઢણભર થઈને હિમ્મત કરી ત્યાં સ્થિર નજર ટકાવી. તેણે એક હાથ કપાળ ઉપર રાખ્યો હતો. બીજા હાથે એ છાતી કૂટતી હોય તેમ જણાતું હતું. મારા મનને હિંમ્મત આવીઃ જરાક મોટેથી પણ દબાયલા અવાજે મારાથી અકસ્માત પૂછાઈ ગયું:

{{gap}}મેં પૂછ્યું નહિ, પૂછાઈ ગયુંઃ 'એ બાઈ કોણ છે તું? ત્યાં કેમ બેઠી છે?

{{gap}}રૂદન તરત જ અટકી ગયું પણ મારા મોંમાંથી હજી શબ્દ બહાર નીકળ્યો ન નીકળ્યો ત્યાં આખી શીમને વીંધી નાખતી ગાડીની સીસોટી સંભળાઈ.
