== Proposal for [[Archive of Archives]], representation of GLAM topics ==
Partly in the light of [[d:Wikidata:Requests for comment/Notability policy reform]], and given that this is already for several years a wiki-in-search-of-purpose (other than the excellent newsletter!), I would like to propose one.
We need a place to represent GLAM topics in archives/collections/catalogs, that don't necessarily have external identifiers or meet Wikipedia standards of notability, but that are vitally useful for outreach and our partnerships with under-resourced cultural institutions. This proposal would build on the [[m:Wikispore Basic]] concept, and on the following grant: [[m:Grants:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Rapid Fund/Wikidata-ArchivesSpace GLAM plugin (ID: 23096591)]]. I've also submitted to present about this idea at the upcoming Wikimania in July 2026. [[User:Pharos|Pharos]] ([[User talk:Pharos|talk]]) 22:44, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

== Social media campaign suggestion ==
Hello, not sure if this is the best place to post this so pls lmk if elsewhere is better.
I really like the recent social media campaign WMF is running lately, where interesting things about/on Wikipedia are being introduced. While these are all great, they're very readership focused and a little surface level.
Imo what would be really helpful is if WMF made entertaining explainers about how Wikipedia works. E.g. this kind of format: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RhheYbgT89Q]
For example, a really wide misunderstanding is whether Wikipedia has "mods"; many incorrectly assume Wikipedia admins are basically like Reddit mods: all-powerful and with strong control over Wikipedia's content. At least for the English Wikipedia, that's not true. Vids could be made to address this misconception. Would need multiple vids on this topic, spread out over time; it's so widespread and information will take a while to disseminate.
Other possible topics include:
* Explaining how article deletions/deletion nominations work (also really misunderstood)
* Introducing the various parts of Wikipedia, like talk pages, the Teahouse, etc
* Introducing various interesting tools Wikipedians use, like anti-vandal stuff, Twinkle, and AutoWikiBrowser.
