As we gear up for our upcoming Wikisource Community meeting, we are excited to share some additional information with you.

The meetings will now be held on the last Saturday of each month. We understand the importance of accommodating different time zones, so to better cater to our global community, we've decided to alternate meeting times. The meeting will take place at 3 pm UTC this month, and next month it will be scheduled for 7 am UTC on the last Saturday. This rotation will continue, allowing for a balanced representation of different time zones.

As always, the meeting agenda will be divided into two halves. The first half of the meeting will focus on non-technical updates, including discussions about events, conferences, proofread-a-thons, and collaborations. The second half will delve into technical updates and conversations, addressing major challenges faced by Wikisource communities, similar to our previous Community meetings.

Thank you everyone for following the progress of the Universal Code of Conduct. I am writing to you today to announce the outcome of the [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Coordinating_Committee/Charter/Voter_information|ratification vote]] on the [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Charter|Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee Charter]]. 1746 contributors voted in this ratification vote with 1249 voters supporting the Charter and 420 voters not. The ratification vote process allowed for voters to provide comments about the Charter. 

A report of voting statistics and a summary of voter comments will be published on Meta-wiki in the coming weeks.

I am writing to you today with two important pieces of information. First, the [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Charter/Vote results|report of the comments from the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) Charter ratification]] is now available. Secondly, the call for candidates for the U4C is open now through April 1, 2024.

The [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee|Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee]] (U4C) is a global group dedicated to providing an equitable and consistent implementation of the UCoC. Community members are invited to submit their applications for the U4C. Per the charter, there are 16 seats on the U4C: eight community-at-large seats and eight regional seats to ensure the U4C represents the diversity of the movement.

Dear all,

This year, the term of 4 (four) Community- and Affiliate-selected Trustees on the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees will come to an end [1]. The Board invites the whole movement to participate in this year’s selection process and vote to fill those seats.

The [[m:Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia Foundation elections committee|Elections Committee]] will oversee this process with support from Foundation staff [2]. The Board Governance Committee created a Board Selection Working Group from Trustees who cannot be candidates in the 2024 community- and affiliate-selected trustee selection process composed of Dariusz Jemielniak, Nataliia Tymkiv, Esra'a Al Shafei, Kathy Collins, and Shani Evenstein Sigalov [3]. The group is tasked with providing Board oversight for the 2024 trustee selection process, and for keeping the Board informed. More details on the roles of the Elections Committee, Board, and staff are here [4]. 

Here are the key planned dates:

*  May 2024: Call for candidates and call for questions
*  June 2024: Affiliates vote to shortlist 12 candidates (no shortlisting if 15 or less candidates apply) [5]
*  June-August 2024: Campaign period
*  End of August / beginning of September 2024: Two-week community voting period
*  October–November 2024: Background check of selected candidates
*  Board's Meeting in December 2024: New trustees seated

Hi all! We have good news to share regarding the ongoing problem with graphs and charts affecting all wikis that use them.

As you probably know, the [[:mw:Special:MyLanguage/Extension:Graph|old Graph extension]] was disabled in 2023 [[listarchive:list/wikitech-l@lists.wikimedia.org/thread/EWL4AGBEZEDMNNFTM4FRD4MHOU3CVESO/|due to security reasons]]. We’ve worked in these two years to find a solution that could replace the old extension, and provide a safer and better solution to users who wanted to showcase graphs and charts in their articles. We therefore developed the [[:mw:Special:MyLanguage/Extension:Chart|Charts extension]], which will be replacing the old Graph extension and potentially also the [[:mw:Extension:EasyTimeline|EasyTimeline extension]].

After successfully deploying the extension on Italian, Swedish, and Hebrew Wikipedia, as well as on MediaWiki.org, as part of a pilot phase, we are now happy to announce that we are moving forward with the next phase of deployment, which will also include your wiki.

The deployment will happen in batches, and will start from '''May 6'''. Mențin părerea că în America se poate vorbi de o nație americană, dar supt națiunea americană se văd încă națiunile celelalte. Că din amestec, într’un anume moment, supt raportul material și moral, va ieși o splendidă rasă, în această privință nu e niciun fel de îndoială. Rasa aceasta este în pregătire. In anume straturi procesul e terminat, în altele însă el este abia îndrumat, și în straturile de jos, ale acelor cari au venit de curând sau al raselor prea deosebite, procesul nu e nici măcar început.

Și să nu uităm apoi că numai societatea socialistă va da adevărat avînt progresului technic (cum vom vedea mai departe) și ziua de muncă va fi și mai scurtă și va ridica bogăția societăței socialiste pînă la un grad cum nu-și poate închipui fantezia cea mai bogată.&lt;/ref&gt;.

Fără să putem fi învinuiți de greșeală, vom zice că trei ceasuri de muncă pe zi ar ajunge ca toți să fie în stare bună, când vor munci toți în împrejurările privitoare din societatea socialistă.

Toată producțiunea națională poate fi pusă în magazii. Dacă fiecare comună producătoare va lua din totalul producțiunei o câtime de producte deopotrivă cu ceasurile de muncă cât a muncit, atunci toate comunele vor lua la un loc producte în valoare de 9 miliarde de ceasuri de muncă, adică vor lua toată producția națională&lt;ref&gt;Nouă miliarde de ceasuri înfățișeză toată producțiunea luată de comune și consumată. Se înțelege că avem în vedere produsul curat (net) nu productul brut; căci o parie din produsul anual se va întrebuința, atunci ca și acuma, pentru efectuarea uneltelor de muncă, etc. Asemenea se va întrebuința o parte pentru susținerea unor instituțiuni folositoare precum universități, spitale etc.&lt;/ref&gt;.

Biurourile de statistică vor socoti cât anume trebue să se producă din fiecare fel de producte și chiar ce producte. Se înțelege că pot fi mici greșeli, mai ales la început, dar chiar dacă se va produce ceva mai mult decât va cere trebuința, acest prisos de producte va rămânea pentru anul viitor în magaziile naționale și nu va putea să cășuneze crize de supra-producțiune. După cum în gospodăria unui țăran din veacul de mijloc, lucrându-se pentru consumarea personală a familiei, un prisos de producțiune, ar fi fost pus în hambar ori în cămară și numai rău n’ar fi prins. Trebue să avem în vedere că societatea socialistă, din punctul de vedere al producțiunei, este o gospodărie unică, cu mulțime de ramificări, care lucrează pentru consumarea nației, iar nu pentru schimb.

De altminterea biurourile de statistică după, o practică oarecare, vor reuși a armoniza producțiunea cu consumarea. Nu putem să intrăm aici în amănunte asupra organizărei societăței viitoare. Cu atât mai mult că socialismul științific privește cu drept cuvânt ca utopie descrierile pe larg ale societăței viitoare; aceste amănunte se vor putea hotărî numai de cei ce vor trăi pe atunci în acea societate, care va avea cu totul alte temelii materiale decât acuma și care va avea alte cunoștinți, altă desvoltare morală, etc. Ori cum, amănuntele lasă neatins principiul general. Va primi oare directorul mai mult decât muncitorii cei simpli, adică se va socoti munca intelectuală mai presus decât cea fizică ori ba?&lt;noinclude&gt;{{sep|6em|align=left}}

Așa de pildă unele comune, să zicem că vor voi să lucreze câte patru ceasuri pe zi, în loc de câte trei, pentruca să aibă mai multe producte de consumat, așa că suma ceasurilor de muncă ale nației întregi va ajunge dela nouă la zece miliarde. Atunci din toată producțiunea comunelor ce au lucrat mai mult vor lua mai mult și la sfârșitul anului toată producțiunea va fi consumată. Cei cari au lucrat mai mult au mai mult fără să facă vre-o stricăciune celor ce se mulțumesc numai cu câte trei ceasuri pe zi.

Am adus aceste exemple numai pentru a lămuri ce înseamnă aproprierea colectivă. Ori cari ar fi amănuntele organizației viitoare, nu putem să ne ocupăm decât de principiul general, de aproprierea colectivă, adică '''nația să ajungă singura proprietară asupra tuturor instrumentelor de muncă, asupra pământului, minelor, fabricilor și altor așezăminte industriale, asupra drumurilor de fier, etc. Nația stăpână peste toate instrumentele de muncă, va da producțiunei o direcție unitară și armonică''', cum face azi fabricantul în fabrică; iar productul național, astfel produs de toată nația, se împarte între comune, potrivit muncei date de fiecare, tot astfel și înlăuntrul comunei pentru fiecare individ. Iată principiul, iată ce înseamnă că principiul de căpetenie este aproprierea colectivă, a cărei urmare va fi după părerea noastră, o prefacere totală a societăței. Analiza ce o face este sprijinită pe o bogată documentare și statistici, care ilustrează o preocupare serioasă de a studia științific realitățile din țara noastră și plecând dela datele economice, să traseze drumul viitorului. Rar o carte atât de clar scrisă.

Politica a fost totdeauna, în publicistica noastră, obiect de reportaj ori de pamflet. Până la probleme, scriitorul politic român nu a încercat să ajungă. S’a mulțumit să facă operă de cronicar sau oficiu de polemist. Inregistra fapte sau ataca persoane. Dincolo de oameni și de fapte nu vedea și nici nu încerca să vadă explicațiile generale. Dar dacă oamenii mor și faptele se învechesc, forțele sociale care le-au dat naștere și unora și celorlalte, rămân mereu active. Problemele își schimbă nu numai fața, dar și sensul lor adânc.

Cartea de față este o încercare de a supune unei analize științifice întreaga evoluție politică a României, în deceniul premergător actualului războiu. Evenimentele la care se referă studiul nostru s’au petrecut, în special, între anii 1935 și 1941. Oamenii care au participat la aceste evenimente sunt astăzi — cei mai mulți — scoși din viața politică. Mai mult, odată cu oamenii, și evenimentele au ieșit din actualitate. Dar resorturile care i-au făcut să se miște și să acționeze constitue încă o problemă, care merită să fie cercetată cu toată luarea aminte.

Nu facem aici, propriu zis, un istoric al celor trei dictaturi — carlistă, legionară și antonesciană — care s’au succedat în toți acești ani. Am cautat, în schimb, să expunem cauzele de natură economică și socială, care au promovat fenomenul&lt;noinclude&gt;{{italic bloc/e}}

Aceste dictaturi constitue un capitol definitiv închis în istoria României. Dar problemele legate de stările care le-au făcut posibile, rămân încă deschise și le putem recunoaște și urmări în imediata actualitate, iar în consecințele lor directe, chiar în stările politice de astăzi.

Cași lucrarea precedentă „Problemele de bază ale României”, manuscrisul acestei cărți a fost redactat definitiv, la Poiana Țapului, în domiciliul obligatoriu, în cursul anului 1941. Nici o modificare nu a fost adusă textului, în urma evenimentelor politice din ultima vreme. Lucrarea apare deci în forma și în cuprinsul în care a fost concepută și scrisă atunci.
